Franciacorta DOCG Rosé 2008 from the winery Barone Pizzini from Provaglio d'Iseo has won the prestigious title of "IWC organic Trophy".
This wine competition was launched in 1984 and every year here 400 judges try 21,000 bottles of wine from over 50 countries in blind tastings. Franciacorta Rosé has passed all phases of this famous competition. The history of this wine was accompanied by many successes: from the gold medal in the category of "sparkling" wines, to the title in the category of organic wines.
Here is an extract from the judgment of the jury of wine experts, sommeliers, journalists and winemakers who have awarded the IWC organic Trophy to the Franciacorta Rosé: "... Barone Pizzini uses only natural substances which are either available as such directly in the nature or obtained through very simple processes. No chemical processing or genetic manipulation, no fertilizer or chemically synthesized pesticides ... "
But that's not all: To the large number of prices that Barone Pizzini has received in London comes a very special one: Italian Sparkling Trophy for the best Italian sparkling wine.
The head of the winery, Silvano Brescianini, stated the following in his speech during the award ceremony: "We have been working in accordance with the values that we believe are particularly important to us and are required for organic farming, without ever losing sight of the fact that we want to produce high quality wines. Today the effort and passion has paid through the receipt of this internationally recognized award. This is especially gratifying for us and represents a further incentive to pursue this path further. It is further an important milestone for the Italian organic winemaking, which today is the world leader."
