A recipe by Donatella! The almond is a typical Sicilian product, which is used primarily for sweets and the famous marzipan. Almonds contain particularly high levels of magnesium, calcium and iron. Thus, the almond is not only very tasty but also healthy! The team at OIP have chosen almonds from the area around Castelluzzo for our customers, since they have a very gentle and sweet taste. Almonds in Sicily are not only used for confectionery, but they are also sprinkled over pasta for example with swordfish sauce. OIP and the oil press "Frantoio Marvaldi"
The products The Marvaldi family is now producing since 3 generations a high quality extra virgin olive oil from only the best olives of the "Culitivar taggiasca". The olive trees grow on the Ligurian Flower Riviera, which is also called Riviera del Ponente. The olive oil is produced in the small, family owned oil mill by cold pressing using exclusively mechanical methods. The oil press is located in the small village Candeasco near the town of Imperia. The result is an extra virgin olive oil with a gentle fruity flavour with a light aroma of sweet almond. It is this very fine taste, which makes the oil of the Ligurian Riviera di Ponente, one of the most famous of all of Italy.

The smoked Provola from buffalo milk is a version of the typical mozzarella from Campania. The correct and protected designation of origin in Italian is "Provola Affumicata di Bufala Campana DOP" The buffalo mozzarella is subjected to a natural smoking process. Ingredients: buffalo milk, rennet and salt. You can enjoy the smoked Provola raw to vegetables or to bread. If you want to cook the Provola, remove the liquid and leave the cheese a few hours in the refrigerator until the cheese separates from the remaining liquid. So the cheese gets the right consistency.

The agricultural company Agrirape has revived the Sicilian rice through an agricultural experiment after about a century of oblivion. In the past, rice was grown in many parts of Sicily. However, between the 17th and 18th Century the rice cultivation almost disappeared for several reasons. But today the Sicilian rice was born again. It is used for risotto or the famous arancini (stuffed rice balls). The Sicilian rice will soon be available at OIP.
