From Oil Mill to Winery, the Story of Villa Raiano and the Basso Family
There are many wineries that, after several experiments, try their hand in the production of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, the property at the head of the Villa Raiano Winery, instead takes a reverse path. The Basso Family began its historical activity as head of the Oleificio Basso, an important reality in the oil sector, and then observed over the years the propensity of the territory towards the production of quality wine. Thus was born the desire to launch into viticulture and all its facets. The territory of Irpinia is entirely characteristic: made of a continuous and sudden alternation of different heights and soils. This last aspect certifies the real incidence of the terroir to which it belongs, giving rise to totally different wines just a few kilometers away. The grape varieties are strictly those typical of Campania so Fiano, Greco, Falanghina, Aglianico and Taurasi. One of those cases where procuring the winery's entire offering is a real necessity to understand and enjoy it thoroughly!
