DESCRIPTION OF THE WHITE CAPRI
The Capri Bianco by Scala Fenicia comes from the splendid island of Capri, made up of a skilful blend of native varieties from Campania, which have always been cultivated on the small islands of the Phlegraean archipelago: Greco, Falanghina and Biancolella. It is a sunny, Mediterranean and marine white, pure expression of the magical atmosphere of this pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea. In the Campania islands, the vine arrived at the time of the first settlements of Greek colonists and since then it has always been part of the culture and tradition of the area, which the Scala Fenicia winery has been able to renew in the name of elegance and excellence.
The Capri Bianco wine from the Scala Fenicia winery was born from the desire to recover and give new splendor to the ancient tradition of Capri wine. The deep link with history is visible right from the choice to create the cellar within the spaces of an ancient Roman cistern. The vines are grown on the north side of the island and occupy a total area of 4000 square meters divided into 4 small terraced plots on the north east side of Mount Solaro, at an altitude of about 100 meters above sea level. The vines are still grown according to the ancient pergola method and the manual harvest takes place in the first half of October. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature, with a duration of about 10-12 days. The wine rests for a few months in steel tanks and is bottled in the spring following the harvest.
The Bianco Capri from the small Scala Fenicia artisan winery is a true excellence of the territory: a label to discover to savor the authentic atmosphere of the island. The color is pale and bright straw yellow. The bouquet recalls aromas of orange blossom flowers, herbs of the Mediterranean scrub, aromas of citrus, peach, white pulp fruit and iodized memories. On the palate it is harmonious, with delicate fruit and a savory sip that closes with notes of lively marine freshness, which brings to mind the splendid settings of the island of Capri.
