The production area includes the village of Paceco, parte of Trapani city, Erice and the northern area of Marsala and Salemi: 90 hectares in whole. But currently only 15 are being cultivated, normally in dark and clay-rich grounds in turnover with the melon, broad bean and durum wheat. The seeding takes place between November and December and then it is harvested fresh in May or June, partly dried in the fields. The harvest has to be made in the evening or, during the hottest days, during the night because as the leaves are more humid they allow the manual bind of the bulbs.
