Casu'e Babbu is a sheep dairy farm in Lodè (Nuoro). The name “Casu'e Babbu” (which literally means: papa's cheese) came about thanks to Gianni's son Valerio. When his mother would ask him what cheese he wanted on his pasta he would invariably answer, “casu'e babbu.”
The history of the company begins with Gianni, who even as a young boy would get up at dawn to help his father with grazing and the production of milk, cheese and the other typical products that are still produced today.
He begins his adventure as a rancher and entrepreneur. He establishes his farm in Lodè, in the locality of Sant'Anna, at the foot of Montalbo, an area located within the Tepilora, Sant'Anna and Rio Posada Regional Nature Park (which has been granted UNESCO Biosphere Reserve status), made up of 8,000 hectares of trails, pristine forests and pure waterways.
At first he devoted himself to setting up his own herd, coming up with several grazing lands and 300 sheep. Soon afterwards he also starts his own small dairy farm.
